Bothnian Belt
Belvedere is the principle claim holder in the area. The properties lie in the Vihanti/Pyhasalmi ore belt in central Finland. This ore belt forms the eastern extension of the prolific Skellefte district in Sweden which hosts numerous base and precious metal occurrences, including the famous Boliden mine. There are three principle styles of mineral deposit recognised, strata bound volcanogenic massive sulphide (VMS) zinc-copper ± lead-silver-gold (Susineva, Arkala), magmatic nickel-copper and mesothermal orogenic gold ± copper-silver deposits (Kopsankangas, Rautio, Kiimala, Kangaskyla).
Key Points
- Recently recognised gold belt
- Explored primarily for Nickel and VMS – very limited gold exploration
- Numerous gold occurrences similar to the Bjorkdal, Faboliden style in Sweden
- Contains two of the three base and precious metal mines operating in Finland
